Proteomics researchers are doing some of the most consequential science of our time. About ESI Source Solutions
In 2008, we started ESI Source Solutions with the simple goal of giving the world great research technology. From that day forward we have stopped at nothing to create the most effective, practical, and result-driven technology. With over 25 years of experience in nanospray ESI mass spectrometry, protein, and analytical chemistry. Many of the devices we sell are inspired by the needs faced running a busy CORE facility while keeping multiple instruments operating at optimal conditions with minimal cost.
As we continue to expand our product lines, the field is continuing to expand capabilities and applications of these techniques. We track and rise to meet the needs of the Single Cell Proteomics community, led by the Slavov Group and others in the field. We are very excited to explore the new field of Volatilomics with our friends at Fossil Ion Technologies, and we expect more developments to continue in 2025 and beyond.

COOLori Montefesco is Chief Operation Officer and heads the administrative side of ESI Source Solutions. since in 2008 when we finally LLC’ed ourselves in the great state of Massachusetts. John and Lori have been married since 1992, and have raised three strapping lads who are involved in the company at various levels as demand and availability allow.

John Neveu founded ESI Source Solutions in August 2008 and leads the company’s product development and sales.Before running ESI full-time, John spent 26 years directing a busy proteomics core facility at Harvard University. It began as the Harvard University Microchemistry Facility and later became the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Resource Laboratory (MSPRL), in the Northwest Labs at 52 Oxford Street, Cambridge. Over that time he saw the field move from Edman sequencing, at one amino acid every 45 minutes, to multiplexed, quantitative single-cell analysis by capillary LC and high-performance mass spectrometry. He was consistently an early adopter, working with leading instrument manufacturers to develop and refine each new generation of technology.
John started ESI as a small in-house shop producing its flagship products, the ABIRD and the CPS-2. After retiring from Harvard in June 2019 to run the company full-time, he has expanded ESI’s own product lines and built its distribution business. ESI’s main distributed line is IonOpticks, whose high-performance nanoflow columns are a natural fit for the labs ESI serves. The company also carries µPAC columns, nanospray emitters from Fossil Ion Technology, MagReSyn sample-prep products from ReSyn Biosciences, quality columns by Dr. Maisch, MicrOmics and Premier LCMS.
ESI looks forward to adding staff and space as it continues to grow.

Robert Goguen is our latest new employee. Rob spent 15 years at IonSense in a lead role developing and producing DART sources. He’s now ESI Source Solutions’ Technical Lead, focused on source design and experimental development using 3D printing.
